What is Peer Reviewed Content?

What is peer reviewed content?

Peer review is a review process that journal editors use to ensure that the articles they publish represent high quality scholarship.

  • articles that are peer review undergo a rigorous review process conducted by experts in the field of the article or journal topic
  • they are lengthy articles, presenting findings of a research study
  • the study contains references in the form of a literature review
  • not all articles in a peer-review journal are peer-review e.g. editorials
  • an article or a journal can be peer reviewed

How Do I Know if An Article is Peer-Reviewed?

Make sure to check the Peer Review checkbox in the Library databases:

For articles outside the Library:

One of the best places to find out if a journal is peer-reviewed is to go to the journal website.

Most publishers have a website for a journal that tells you about the journal, how authors can submit an article, and what the process is for getting published.

If you find the journal website, look for the link that says information for authors, instructions for authors, submitting an article or something similar.
